Hearts of Iron II: Operation “Better Dead than Red”

July 11, 2009 Leave a comment

As you may recall from my last post, the remains of the Axis war machine were being repaired by the French for their own personal use and Turkey was a broken and defeated country.  With the threat of an Allied offensive from Turkey and French-occupied Germany at the forefront of their concerns, the Soviets decided to take on the might of the Allied war machine.  Apparently the industrial powerhouse of Eastern Europe were too tantalizing a target for the Soviets to pass up!

Team Fortress 2: too late to jump in?

October 6, 2008 Leave a comment

Team Fortress 2, a game that retails for 19.99 and one that I have finally purchased after a year of not having a pc to play it on. Of course, I was a bit nervous entering an online fps this late in the game. Yet I found TF2 and its community to be decidedly welcoming and easy to assimilate into. I had high hopes for TF2 as a game, and it has done nothing but exceed everything I had previously conceived about it. If you were hoping I was going to have plenty of negative things to say, stop reading. If you are late to this party just as I was, come on in, theres still room in the server.

Game Reviews FTW: Hearts of Iron II

September 25, 2008 Leave a comment

Hearts of Iron II is a fantastic game by Paradox Interactive that gives you the reigns of any country in existence during WWII.  This might sound like any other RTS game on its surface, but when I say any country, I mean any country.  You can play the common ones like the US, Britain, Germany and Japan like you can in most WWII-themed games.  If you ever had the need to play through WWII as Brazil, however, then you might want to check this out.  The game combines massively in-depth strategy, rightly called “grand strategy,”  and good replay value to create an impressive RTS.

The demon bunny uses this opportunity to glide back into the valley from whence it came, pausing only to glance over its shoulder as the epic creature devours its meal. Read more…

Geometry Wars 2: Arcade game FTW

September 1, 2008 Leave a comment

My eyes shed tears of fatigue and hatred as the bright glow of the leaderboards sat in contrast to my otherwise unlit room. How long I had been sitting on the couch I knew not, although a simple glance at the clock would have revealed that the time was now 3:00 A.M., I force my trembling finger to navigate back to where I could play just ONE MORE GAME. I am addicted, there is no point in denying it, Geometry Wars 2 had singlehandedly filled a void in my life that I had absolutely no idea was there. But I get ahead of myself, the game is Geometry Wars: retro evolved 2 on xbox live arcade, and this is my story. Read more…

Mass effect: a new addition to the review catalogue

September 1, 2008 Leave a comment

I am sprinting down a narrow corridor, waiting for me at the end of this hallway are several hostiles. At this point I choose to duck behind a crate, pausing the action for a moment I direct one of my squad members to disable the enemy shields, and the other to toss said enemies into the air using a technology known as biotics. The action resumes and as the enemies fly into the air I take the opportunity to kill each one of them courtesy of my customized assault rifle.
